Writing has always been a passion. After taking elected office, my position granted me the opportunity to share messages and stories that need to be told. Over the past five years, I've penned a number of opinion pieces in publications around metro Detroit.
In 2020, I co-authored an op-ed that appeared in The Detroit News, a publication with a Sunday circulation of nearly 1,000,000 readers. In this piece, we expose the ways in which 1960's-style zoning codes, still on the books today, perpetuate racial segregation.
My co-author was, Jamie Fogel, an economics PhD. candidate at the University of Michigan and former researcher at both Harvard and the Federal Reserve of Boston.

Monthly column on local government and the issues that matter
Throughout 2015, I composed a monthly column for The Michigan Daily, the student newspaper of the University of Michigan. The aim of this periodical was to engage young people in the local issues that impact their daily lives - housing costs, basic services, and transportation.
